The residents of the Sri Saradha Devi Illam Welfare Association, Malaysia have celebrated the pongal festival with great enthusiasm at our association. This festival is dedicated to the sun god, Surya Bhagawan, and corresponds to Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival under many regional names celebrated throughout India. The three days of the Pongal festival are called Surya Pongal, and Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal.

On 14 November 2021, the members of Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Malaysia organised a Deepavali Luncheon for the children of Sri Saradha Devi Charity & Welfare Association (SSDI). The UPF Malaysia team were lead by their President, Professor Dr Sudesh Balasubramaniam. 
This is the first time ever UPF Malaysia is collaborating with SSDI for a large scale event. There were many performances by the children of SSDI i.e. Dance and Silambam Martial Arts, Tong II Moo Do Martial Arts by UPF members, Song Presentation by UPF team as well as Silambam Performance by SSDI Silambam Club Master, Mr Manimaran.
It was also a very proud moment for all members of Sri Saradha Devi Ashram as our President, Dr Kumaran Adakalam was awarded by UPF with their renowned and prestigious Distinguished Humanitarian Award in recognition of Dr Kumaran’s efforts in uplifting the community through education and all other humanitarian assistance rendered.

In conjunction with this, we also conducted the Silambam Belt Graduation Ceremony for all children of SSDI with Mr Sudesh presenting the graduation belts to all the children. We would like to congratulate all children of SSDI as well as all other students on their achievement.

The event ended with Global Peace Prayer by both UPF Malaysia and SSDI, as well as a thanking note by Dr Kumaran Adakalam, President of Sri Saradha Devi Charity and Welfare Association to all members of UPF. We take this opportunity once again to thank UPF team for this event with us.

All children of Sri Saradha Devi Ashram participated in the Jeeva Raksha Course conducted by His Holiness Gurumahan Jagathguru Maha Maharishi Paranjothiar through the Universal Peace Foundation in India. It was a 2 days online program in which all participants are taught on the techniques of Jeeva Raksha and also on the benefits of Jeeva Raksha to human body, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic.

Hinduism class is being conducted for the children of Sri Saradha Devi Ashram on a weekly basis by Master Brindaban Thiruchelvam. The class is conducted following the syllabus of Sugam Vedic School and includes wide range of topics such thevaram, bhajans, thirumurai, and etc. Besides religious awareness, Vedic Heritage i.e. Ramayana and Life Skills are also being taught in this class.

The prayer items for the Pooja will be bought by the Ashram, prayers items such as Milk, Fruits and Food etc. For those who would wish to contribute, please drop us an email on your contributions or you can get in touch with the administrators of the Ashram.
