SSDI Trinity Convocation 2026 Celebrates Kalvi, Kalai, Kalacharam, National Recognition and a New Chapter in Elderly Care
Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Saradha Devi Illam Malaysia marked a landmark moment on 16 May 2026, honouring achievements in education, classical arts and martial arts alongside Amazing Malaysian Book of Records recognition and a new elderly care initiative.
SELANGOR — Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Saradha Devi Illam Malaysia (SSDI) marked a defining milestone with its SSDI Trinity Convocation Ceremony 2026, held on 16 May 2026. The ceremony brought together children, alumni, educators, community partners and supporters to celebrate academic progress, artistic excellence, cultural heritage and the continuing expansion of SSDI’s welfare mission.
At its heart was SSDI’s guiding philosophy of “Kalvi, Kalai, Kalacharam” (கல்வி, கலை, கலாச்சாரம்) — Education, Arts and Culture. The celebration demonstrated how these interconnected foundations help children grow with knowledge, self-confidence, discipline, cultural identity and a sense of responsibility towards the community.
The ceremony recognised 27 Diploma and Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3 graduations, 25 Bharatanatyam graduations and 30 Silambam graduations. These numbers represent achievements across three disciplines, not 82 different graduates, because some SSDI children completed more than one programme.
Kalvi, Kalai, Kalacharam: Education, Arts and Culture in Practice
For SSDI, welfare goes beyond providing a safe place to live. The organisation’s approach combines education, creative expression, cultural learning and character development, creating meaningful pathways for young people to develop their abilities and prepare for independent futures.
Kalvi (Education) reflects the importance SSDI places on academic learning, recognised skills and vocational qualifications. During the Trinity Convocation, 27 graduation achievements were recognised in Diploma and SKM Level 3 programmes, comprising 22 Diploma-level and five Level 3 certificate recipients.
Kalai (Arts) celebrates artistic practice, patience and self-expression. The ceremony recognised 25 Bharatanatyam graduation achievements, honouring the discipline and dedication required to progress in classical Indian dance.
Kalacharam (Culture) honours the preservation of heritage, shared values and intergenerational traditions. Through 30 Silambam graduation achievements, SSDI celebrated students’ development in the traditional Tamil martial art, alongside the confidence, focus and respect nurtured through sustained training.
These disciplines complement one another rather than operate in isolation. Several children achieved milestones in multiple fields, illustrating the breadth of SSDI’s commitment to holistic development.
Amazing Malaysian Book of Records Recognition
A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of Amazing Malaysian Book of Records (AMBR) honours recognising SSDI students, alumni and the institution.
The official convocation programme provided for record awards to 36 SSDI students and three alumni, along with institutional recognition connected to Bharatham, Silambam and Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia. The awards celebrated individual and collective dedication across years of learning and training.
For the children, the recognition offered a powerful reminder that access to opportunity, committed teachers and continued encouragement can translate potential into accomplishments recognised beyond the home.
A Celebration Shared Across the Welfare Community
The event was graced by YB Gobind Singh, Minister of Digital Malaysia, as the official guest, alongside other distinguished representatives, community leaders and supporters. SSDI’s president, Dr. Kumaran Adaikalam, led the organisation’s celebration of the children’s progress and its wider mission of service.
In one of the evening’s most memorable moments, more than 170 children from SSDI and invited welfare homes gathered on stage. The moment symbolised solidarity, shared hope and the importance of celebrating progress across the wider welfare community.
A New Chapter of Service: The SSDI Elderly Care Home
The Trinity Convocation also marked a milestone beyond the graduation stage. A symbolic mock key handover recognised a home entrusted to SSDI for the SSDI Elderly Care Home initiative, extending the organisation’s mission of compassion from child welfare towards the care and dignity of older members of the community.
The symbolic handover signalled a new direction for SSDI and its ambition to extend compassionate service across generations. It marked the presentation of the new initiative, rather than a claim that its day-to-day operations had already commenced.
For SSDI, the initiative builds upon the same values that guide its work with children: care, respect, education, cultural connection and service to others. It reflects a vision of welfare that continues across generations.
Recognising the People Behind Every Achievement
Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Saradha Devi Illam Malaysia extends its appreciation to the students, alumni, teachers, trainers, educational partners, government representatives, donors, sponsors, invited welfare homes, volunteers and well-wishers who helped make the ceremony possible and who continue to support the children’s progress throughout the year.
The significance of the Trinity Convocation lies not only in the certificates and awards presented, but in the opportunities they represent: knowledge that opens doors, artistic training that builds confidence, cultural practices that preserve identity and compassion that grows into service to the wider community.
Kalvi builds knowledge. Kalai nurtures talent. Kalacharam preserves heritage. Together, they help shape a future of confidence, dignity and service.
